Using a patented procedure, CoolSculpting non-invasively eliminates fat cells underneath the skin through targeted cooling. Targeted fat cells are then naturally flushed out from the body, with no surrounding damage to healthy tissue.
CoolSculpting is FDA-approved for treatment of love handles, midriff rolls, and excess abdominal fat, in particular, areas of fat unresponsive to diet and exercise. No knives, suction hoses, or needles are required. CoolSculpting is not, however, a weight loss solution for obesity, nor is it a substitute for individuals requiring liposuction surgery.
Currently, CoolSculpting is limited to the abdomen area. A CoolSculpting device does not exist for the face, neck, arms, or thighs.
What to Expect from CoolSculpting
The CoolSculpting device is positioned on the area selected for treatment. Using suction, bulges of fat are drawn between two cooling panels as the procedure is administered. You will feel firmness, pressure, and cold.
Treatments generally last between one and three hours. Often, patients will read, do work, and even nap during the procedure. CoolSculpting treatments may also be scheduled at separate intervals to accommodate a busy schedule.
Over the next six months, targeted fat cells from your body will continue to dissipate. For this reason, patients typically see the full benefits of the procedure two to eight weeks after their initial treatment. As long as a normal diet and exercise routine are maintained, the results of CoolSculpting are long-term. Often, undergoing the CoolSculpting procedure inspires patients to take even better care of their overall health.
