• Rhinoplasty For some patients, injecting a filler such as Radiesse to the nose can be a good alternative to a Rhinoplasty. Costs can add up over time however, so consider your long-term goals and your budget.  Whether or not a patient is a good candidate depends upon their specific goals and their anatomy.

Most filler’s are generally not permanent, and will only correct specific anatomical issues, not things that may cause problems with your breathing.  They also are only good at ‘filling’, not taking away.  So it is difficult to make an area smaller if that is your goal. They are usually best when used for small irregularities, and are not a replacement for surgery.  Results typically only last up to a year.

There are permanent fillers, but those come with their own complications, and may be inferior to surgery itself.  I recommend meeting with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for a consultation, and specifically working with someone who is experienced in this particular use of facial fillers.  During the consultation, you and the surgeon will discuss your goals, and the surgeon can discuss the best options for your unique case.

  • Nose Job I understand how disappointing and frustrating it can be to be disappointed by the results of your initial Rhinoplasty procedure.  I recommend that you look for Plastic Surgeons who specialize in Rhinoplasty procedures.  Nothing can take the place of experience, so don’t be afraid to ask about their experience and of course, always confirm they are Board Certified.  I would also recommend seeing more than just one or two; get the opinion of several surgeons, and base your decision on that.

An experienced surgeon can give you a realistic idea of what you could expect from a revision Rhinoplasty, and help you determine a surgical plan that makes sense for you.  Generally however, you will need to let yourself heal properly, and that can take up to a year.  An experienced Rhinoplasty surgeon will not consider a revision before that time, because it can compromise the possibility of success.  Don’t rush into any decisions until the healing process is complete.

  • Rhinoplasty During your recovery from a Rhinoplasty, you may experience bruising, swelling, and discomfort.  Depending upon the extent of your surgery, most patients do not complain of ‘pain’ outside of a bit of tenderness.  Some report a mild headache, and others report a feeling of congestion.  These symptoms can be controlled with medication, supplements, splints, and compresses, as well as elevation in some cases.

Post-Rhinoplasty swelling can last up to 1 year after surgery, although the majority of the swelling usually goes away within 4-6 months time.  You will want to keep very heavy activity to a minimum the first 3-4 weeks, but after that you should be able to resume life as normal.

  • Rhinoplasty Immediately after a Rhinoplasty surgery, patients may experience some discomfort, bruising, and swelling.  Splints are applied to keep the cartilage and bone anchored during healing, and gauze is packed inside the nose to keep bleeding at a minimum and keep the septum from moving.

Splints are removed 1-2 weeks post surgery, which usually relieves quite a bit of discomfort.  Swelling can last up to 1 year post surgery while the cartilage, skin, and bone heal completely.  You may have some bruising around the eyes for the first 1-2 weeks, although the majority of the swelling usually goes away 4-6 months post surgery.  Taking certain supplements and using compresses can minimize discomfort and swelling as well, and keeping your head elevated.  Talk with your surgeon as they will usually have detailed post op requirements for you to follow.

  • Rhinoplasty Swelling after a Rhinoplasty surgery can be present up to 1 year post-surgery depending upon the extent of the procedure itself.  Generally, the majority of swelling goes away in the first 4-6 months, but it can take up to 1 year for the results of your Rhinoplasty to truly be seen properly.

The main thing is to make sure your surgeon is experienced in nasal surgeries to minimize recovery issues as much as possible.  If you have any concerns about the swelling, it is best to address this with your surgeon directly.

  • Rhinoplasty In answer to your question, the cost of rhinoplasty may vary depending on the area where you are having the procedure done.  In San Francisco, the pricing for a Rhinoplasty can range from $7,000-$9,000.  It is also important that you find out exactly what is included in the fee.  The price quote should include everything, such as pre and post op visits, any anesthesia and operating room fees as well as your surgeon’s fee and any other applicable charges that may be incurred with your particular case.
It’s also important when choosing a Rhinoplasty surgeon to find a Board Certified Surgeon who has experience with facial and nasal surgeries.  Ask how many facial and nasal surgeries they perform on a regular basis.  If they don’t perform them regularly, keep searching until you find one who does.  Rhinoplasty can be a difficult procedure with a high touch up rate, and you want to ensure the best possible outcome the first time, or your costs can become significantly higher in the long-run.

  • Brow Lift It is unlikely that a full face lift would be the best option given your age of 33 years old.  Since you mention that the only area where you notice sagging is of the forehead/brows, I believe it would be best to treat that area.

You may want to consider Botox to the forehead to correct minimal brow sagging.  In this procedure, you would receive injections to relax the muscles that pull the brows down.  If the sagging you notice is more considerable, you may be a good candidate for a brow lift.

This procedure repositions underlying tissue and muscle in order to get rid of creases and sagging of the forehead.  Depending upon your needs, this procedure can raise the entire forehead, or just the sides via an incision to your scalp, just along the hairline.  Also, you should note that a brow lift and face lift treat two separate things.  A brow lift raises the position of the eyebrows and the face lift will lift the cheeks and neck.  That is why a consult is best.  During a consultation with a Plastic Surgeon, you and your surgeon should come up with a treatment plan together that addresses your unique concerns and achieves your appearance goals.

  • Brow Lift This depends greatly on your individual circumstance.  Some asymmetries can be repaired, and some can’t.  And most people have some facial asymmetry anyway to a degree. A surgeon who is skilled can assess any asymmetries you may have and help you come up with a surgical plan to minimize them as best as possible.  A skilled surgeon will also be able to highlight those asymmetries that can’t be improved upon, and let you know up front so that you don’t go in with unrealistic expectations.
I recommend visiting with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who can do an assessment and discuss with you what options would best achieve your goals.  It is possible that a Botox treatment could assist in lifting the brow in question, or a unilateral brow lift may be a good option, if you are a candidate for the procedure.  But the only way to assess this properly is a one-on-one consult, so your surgeon can examine you and discuss the options.  Just keep in mind that while asymmetries can be reduced, we all have them to a degree and most often they can’t be completely corrected.

  • Endoscopic Brow Lift Pain during recovery for the Endoscopic Brow Lift should be very minimal.  With proper technique during surgery and by following post-operative care instructions and proper consumption of prescriptions such as narcotics given to you by your surgeon, most patients are comfortable during the recovery process.

Patients typically experience some itching and soreness around the incision sites, and should keep their heads elevated at all times to minimize swelling.  Sometimes a temporary numbness of the forehead and scalp occurs, with typical recovery periods of 7-10 days.

  • Endoscopic Brow Lift There are several options for a brow lift.  Factors such as age, genetics, and your goals play a big role in the method you choose to raise the brows.  That being said, an endoscopic brow lift utilizes special equipment, called an endoscope.  Because of this special equipment, the brow lift procedure only requires 2-3 small incisions that are hidden in the hair line.

The source of the creases and furrows can be treated by repositioning the underlying tissue and muscles of the forehead.  This means less scarring and also less issues with numbness around the incisions as well.  However be aware that this procedure will only create a mild lift.

If a heavier lift is needed, you may need to choose a more traditional brow lift procedure.  Other typical brow lift procedures include pretrichial brow lifts, trans bleph endotine brow lifts, and the more old-fashioned coronal brow lifts.  And of course there is the non invasive Botox procedure as well.  A consult with your surgeon will help you determine the best course of action for your needs.
