• Injectable Fillers There are a variety of factors to consider when choosing the right filler to enhance the cheeks.  Costs play a role, as do ease of injection and how long the filler lasts.

You also need to consider your unique goals and the amount of volume required.  For large amounts of volume, Sculptra is one of the most cost-effective cheek fillers, and is the longest lasting.

However, other fillers can be effective for more subtle improvements in the face.  In that case, the duration of the filler usually takes priority in the decision.  Juvederm and Restylane last anywhere from 6-9 months and is often a popular choice.

Radiesse is also used with success, and is more cost effective than Juvederm and Restylane for the amount of months of correction you can get.

If you are looking for a more permanent solution, fat grafting with a skilled Board Certified Plastic Surgeon can be a viable option as well.  As always, it’s best to schedule a consult to discuss your goals, and from there decide the best course of treatment options.

  • Eye Procedure Yes, but it will depend entirely on variables unique to your situation.  The extent of the wrinkling will play a factor, as well as your age and the results you are looking for.  The best course of action is to schedule a consult to discuss your options and decide the best treatment options for your situation.

Treatment options range from Botox, chemical peels, Thermage skin tightening, Juvederm or Dysport fillers, or even, depending on the severity of lines lower eyelid surgery.

  • Injectable Fillers For a temporary fix, popular treatments are dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse and Artefill.  There are others as well, and which you use will depend entirely on the area you would like treated, and the overall objectives you’re looking for.

These objectives should be discussed, pros and cons.  From there you can decide the best course of action to suit your unique needs, and treatments can usually be done in office, with effects lasting anywhere from four-to-six months.

  • Eye Procedures The best treatment for eye wrinkles depends on the area where the wrinkles are located and the severity  of the wrinkles.  Botox or Dysport can be very effective in eliminating the appearance of crow’s feet, or the lines near the outer part of the eye.  Sometimes a filler such as Juvederm can be used to reduce the appearance of lines or wrinkles to the under eye areas.

Some people see success with treatments like Thermage skin tightening or chemical peels.   These can be effective with very fine lines although you may need a series of these treatments to really see a difference.

Depending on the severity of the lines under the eyes, a lower blepharoplasty (or eyelid surgery) may be a good option.  The best bet really is to schedule a consult with a Board Certified Plastic surgeon, allow him or her to assess the problem in person, and make recommendations based on your unique situation and desired outcomes.

  • Lip Enhancement and Plumping There are of course several options for lip enhancement.  Overall though, fillers are the best option.  They are temporary, and fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Perlane are excellent options that can provide a natural looking and feeling result.

A more permanent solution is fat grafting, but this should only be done by a highly skilled and experienced surgeon.  Lip augmentation is a bit of an art form, and facial aesthetics should always be taken into consideration as well.  Do your research and find a reputable surgeon no matter which option you choose.

  • Juvederm Augmentation We all have sebaceous glands in our lips. It is a natural occurrence and they are there for a reason. They may look a little yellow to white in color and be smooth to the touch. Although this is most likely just the natural texture of your lips being pushed to the surface by the filler, it is always wise to discuss your result with the physician or nurse who initially injected you.

They can then decide if the bumps are normal or if it is something that needs to be addressed. If the spots are bumpy to the touch, and clear or blue in color, this may be caused by the filler and can be fixed by your doctor by smoothing or draining them. Always see your doctor if you have questions or concerns.

  • Lip Augmentation Lip fillers that work best to pass “the kiss test”, or essentially ones that have a natural look and feel, are hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane. While there may initially be a few days of swelling, the result of Juvederm and Restylane to the lips is very natural looking and feeling when it is properly injected.

Another option to consider is fat injections. These can also pass the kiss test, but should only be performed by a highly experienced cosmetic surgeon. And the fat must be taken from your own body, so that can be a downside. However, fat injections can be permanent when done properly, so that is something to consider.

It’s best to stay away from fillers such as Radiesse, Sculptra, or collagens. Collagen is hard to find these days, and the other two are just not meant for the lips.

  • Juvederm Juvederm is a great product for lip augmentation. Because of its fine texture and consistency, Juvederm gives patients a natural looking result to create a fuller and more aesthetically pleasing look. It is also readily absorbable and has a fairly small risk of morphing into permanent granulomas. Restylane is also an excellent choice and has similar consistency and potential risks.

Lip augmentation is good for people whose gums show when smiling, to plump up wrinkles surrounding the mouth, and to increase volume in thinning lips. However, remember to be conservative and don’t go overboard with too much filler. Less is more in this case, in order to achieve the most natural results possible. And always remember to go to a highly experienced injector for any cosmetic enhancement.

  • Facelift Alternative A facelift, like any decision to have surgery, is a big decision. But it can be very beneficial a procedure to restore the appearance of youth to your face, and tighten skin and underlying fatty tissue and muscles beneath the neck and face.  Typically, a face lift is a good option when you have sagging or excess skin along the jaw line and lower face.  A facelift can help to rejuvenate these areas and turn back the clock.

But if you don’t wish to have surgery, there are at least some alternatives that can help.  If you are seeking a facelift simply to alleviate lines around the mouth, fill hollows, and create fullness where there is currently excess skin, filler options may work well for you.

One popular filler is Juvederm, and there are also fillers like Restylane, Perlane, Sculptra, ArteFill and others.  Another option is a combination of Botox and a facial filler.  Obviously the type of filler you choose will depend on your unique issues, as each filler is not a fix all for everything.  It’s also important for you to take care of the A,B,C’s of proper skin care.  That includes hydration, sunscreen, proper eating and exercise, and hygiene as well.
