If you’re considering a Brazilian Butt Lift in San Francisco…
Traditional Procedures and Techniques Are Still Effective
Removal of excess skin and tightening the skin about the upper part of the buttocks is most often done on patients following dramatic weight loss, or in conjunction with a full body lift or limited liposuction procedures in the hip and thigh areas.
The traditional method for surgically inserting implants for buttock augmentation uses various techniques similar to those used in breast augmentation surgery using implants. The USFDA has approved the use of solid and semi-solid silicone implants for buttock augmentation surgery. However, there is a difference between placing implants in the breasts and placing implants in the region of the buttocks.
Natural Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure
In addition to a longer recovery time and more discomfort than with liposuction or fat grafting methods, there is a possibility of shifting or asymmetry because the gluteus maximus muscle is located in this high-stress area. Because fat grafting is capable of obtaining superior results that are more natural, permanent and safer, I greatly prefer using a patient’s own fat instead of implants to accomplish aesthetic shaping of the buttocks.
Fat Grafting Methods Are Gaining Popularity
The Brazilian Butt Lift is a procedure designed to fill the upper quadrant of the buttocks so that the final overall shape is a lifted and rounded contour, a la the Brazilian beach beauties that have made it famous. The shape can be accomplished either by liposuction and fat transfer or using micro fat injection technique.
Transferring the Patient’s Fat from another Location
After preparing the donor site with a local anesthetic, the surgeon withdraws fat using a syringe with a needle or cannula. After the fat is transferred, a certain percentage of it will re-vascularize and survive in the new location. This “autologous” fat transfer process is repeated until the desired contour has been achieved.
