During your recovery from a Rhinoplasty, you may experience bruising, swelling, and discomfort. Depending upon the extent of your surgery, most patients do not complain of ‘pain’ outside of a bit of tenderness. Some report a mild headache, and others report a feeling of congestion. These symptoms can be controlled with medication, supplements, splints, and compresses, as well as elevation in some cases.
Post-Rhinoplasty swelling can last up to 1 year after surgery, although the majority of the swelling usually goes away within 4-6 months time. You will want to keep very heavy activity to a minimum the first 3-4 weeks, but after that you should be able to resume life as normal.
